Looking to turn one of your favorite moments into graphite?

Here are the steps in the process and what to expect.

1.   Review my other works in the Artwork Gallery on this webpage and become familiar with my style.

2.  There are great differences in graphite drawings.  From quick sketches to layer detailed drawings.  My drawings are detailed and layered in nature and the depth of detail is achieved as the drawing progresses.  Review the Work In Progress section on this webpage to see how this transpires over the hours of working on a particular drawing.

3.  The graphite image will be completed on acid-free paper and will be a strong detailed representation of the photographic image provided by the client and agreed upon by the artist.  The degree of detail available in the photograph directly impacts the degree of detail obtained in the artwork produced.  My best and most detailed work directly correlates to the detail and clarity of the photograph it was created off of.  If you have a photograph you are thinking of using contact me and we can look at it together and decide if it will create a piece you will be happy with.  Use of software to crop and sharpen can sometimes provide the clarity needed to have an adequate image to work off of.  My favorite photos to draw are the snapshots of life and in today's world those are sometimes also the photos taken on a cellphone.  Let's see if there is enough information digitally to make it work.

4.  Using an agreed upon picture for clarity and then discussing details of the work such as:

             a.  Size of drawing

             b.  Number of subjects in the drawing (Cost may increase up to 50% for each additional                         subject)

             c.  Amount of subject's body present (i.e. face vs full body)

             d.  Type of clothing the subjects are wearing  (solid colors vs prints, lace etc.)

             e.  Background desired  (None or simple shading vs a detailed setting)

Using these parameters, a exact price for the drawing will be presented in a commission contract along with the agreed upon photo with cropping and sharpening that the drawing will be replicated from.

Starting prices are listed in the Pricing section of this website.  There are so many variables in a picture that can increase the time needed to adequately capture the details and that is the reason for the variable nature of the pricing.  (Drawings posted on this site were individually created in an average of 25-35 hours of time.)

5.  When the contract is signed and a non-refundable deposit of 50% is received the fun begins.  I will keep you posted on the progress of the picture through multiple photos of your drawing so that you can watch it develop before your eyes very similar to what you see in the Works in Progress Section.  When finished I will email you a high resolution proof photo/scan of the final artwork for approval.  After approval of the proof photo/scan the balance payment will be made by the client and then the artwork will be delivered.  Matting and framing will not be done by the Artist.
